About The Band

Longridge is a small town approximately six miles east of Preston. The origins of The Longridge Band can be traced back to 1845, making it one of the oldest bands in the country.

A book, "Longridge Brass Band - From School yard to the Albert Hall" by Peter Vickers is available and covers the history of the band in a light-hearted and enjoyable manner.

One of the most notable aspects of the band is its pride in its heritage and continual involvement in the local community, which many bands have dismissed over the years. There are still a number of local people playing in the band. The longest serving member has played with the band for over forty years. (Not the writer!).

The band has pioneered the "Spectacular" Themed Concert format, thanks to the imagination of former MD Mike Cotter.

This type of presentation features the band performing with lighting, visual, sound and even on occasion....pyrotechnic effects!

The band is very well supported by the townspeople of Longridge. It has both "Sponsorship" and "Patronage" schemes in operation for which the band is grateful to enable the continuation of its musical heritage with Concerts, Performances and Parades.
